Bathukamma is a vibrant and colorful festival celebrated predominantly by the women of Telangana, India, symbolizing the cultural spirit and rich traditions of the region. Derived from the words ‘Bathuku’ (life) and ‘Amma’ (mother), Bathukamma translates to “Mother Goddess come alive.” This nine-day festival, observed during the latter half of the monsoon season, typically falls in September or October and coincides with the beginning of Sharath Ritu, the autumn season. It starts on the day of Mahalaya Amavasya and culminates on Durgashtami, marking the end of Navratri.
